‘Autumn Bouquet’ Still Life by Guillermo Nunez, Santiago, Chile, Roberto Matta, 1960s

A very substantial, mid-century oil still-life showing a group of brightly colored orange and ochre blossoms set against a pale persimmon background. Signed, lower right “Nunez” for Guillermo Nunez (Chilean, born 1930), a listed artist, and painted circa 1970. This well-listed Latin American Modernist first studied in Santiago and, subsequently, in Paris with Roberto Matta in the 1950’s. The recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards, Nunez has exhibited internationally with success.
